The Indianapolis Professional Association Proudly Announces Its Fifth Annual Combined Achievement Awards and Youth Empowerment Program

What: 5th Annual Combined Achievement Awards and Youth Empowerment Program presented by the Education Task Force of the Indianapolis Professional Association

When: Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 10am-12pm


Why: This event will honor the top achieving African-American graduates from the Indianapolis Public Schools and several townships.  It will also highlight youth, adults, and organizations that have distinguished themselves in serving and empowering the young people of Indiana.

Who:  The great-great granddaughter of Madame C.J. Walker, A’Lelia Bundles and the great-great granddaughter of Booker T. Washington, Dr. Amanda Washington-Lockett will be featured in a discussion moderated by Dr. Leslie Kenneth Etienne, IUPUI Professor of the Africana Studies Center at the Madame Walker Legacy Center. State and local civic and community leaders will also appear on the program.

As a means of funding book awards for the honorees, IPA will host a silent auction online. The silent auction will consist of autographed copies of videos donated by award-winning director, Stanley Nelson.  He has gained notoriety for his documentaries chronicling such topics as the Black Panthers, Freedom Rides, and the legendary Miles Davis. Details of the silent auction items will be available soon.
